Locked notes
Write notes inside a vault, encrypted the same way as your photos. How they compare with Apple's locked notes, and their limits.
You can write notes inside a vault, and they are encrypted the same way as photos, behind the vault's pattern. No title shows outside the vault. They stay on your iPhone with no sync. The free plan holds 10 notes in each vault.
How they work
Open a vault, tap add and tap Note. Write, then save. Nothing about the note is visible unless someone opens that vault.
Compared with Apple’s locked notes
- Titles. Apple’s locked notes keep their title in the list. Backroom’s notes show only inside the vault.
- Secret. Apple offers your device passcode or a custom password. Backroom uses your vault’s pattern.
- Sync. Apple’s reach your other devices. Backroom’s do not.
- Features. Apple’s Notes has formatting and much more, while Backroom’s are plain and simple.
Apple’s option is free, works everywhere you are signed in and suits many people. Our guide includes a tap-through practice. Use Backroom’s if you want text kept together with photos and files, behind one separate secret.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use these on my Mac?
No. Backroom is iPhone only, and notes do not sync.
Are they protected from the keyboard?
Autocorrect stays on in notes, so iOS may learn words you type. Bear that in mind for very sensitive text.
