Image cropper

Crop a photo by dragging or by exact pixel values, in free form or a fixed shape such as square or 16:9. Nothing is uploaded.

Choose an image and drag across the part you want to keep, or type exact pixel values. Pick a fixed shape such as square, 4:5 or 16:9 if you need one. The cut-off pixels and the metadata are left out of the new file, and your original stays on your device.

Crop before you share

A tighter crop can remove a house number, a family photo on the wall or a name on an envelope. Pair it with the photo redactor for details in the middle of the frame.

Exact values

Left and Top set the corner of the area, measured from the top left of the picture. Width and Height set its size, all in pixels of the original image. The preview may look smaller on your screen, and the numbers still refer to the full-size image.

Frequently asked questions

Can cropped parts be recovered from the new file?

Not from this tool's output. It draws only the kept area to a new canvas, so the rest is absent from the file.

Does cropping lower quality?

The kept pixels stay at the same size, though saving as JPEG or WebP encodes them again. Choose PNG for no further loss at the cost of a bigger file.

Which shape do I need for a profile picture?

Most services show a square or a circle cut from a square, so square is a safe start.
